There's a seal behind crank pully which are prone to leaking but also the actual sump if rusted can have pin holes in the rust spots , best to give it a wash down, clean off oil then see where it starts from when engine running before you start throwing sheckles at itAndrew43 wrote:Hello to everyone, hopefully you can help me. I've noticed my transit van has developed a slight oil leak. I've had a good look and it looks like it's coming from what I think is the crankshaft pulley/around the sump. It's a mk 6 transit 2.4 lwb, on a 52 plate. Is their a seal on the sump or on the actual crankshaft pulley? I've looked by the vaccine pump and that doesn't appear to be showing any signs of leaking. It's only leaking slightly but id like to get it sorted. Thanks

I've taken it to a garage and the mechanic said to keep an eye on the leak. He said if he took the crank pulley out it could open up a whole can of worms. Saying that a new crankshaft pulley is quite expensive. Not sure what the next step is, don't really want an oil leak. Has anybody got any suggestions? Thanks
