After market water pump.

Hi a few year's ago I brought an after market water and vaxcum pump. While I was cleaning some oil by the sump it appeared that there was some water below the pump. The level appears to be fine in the header tank. That was a few days ago, there has been nothing since. What might of caused it? Thanks Andrew
