Standard Security for my Insurance

Postby winchman » Mon Mar 25, 2024 10:46 am

Hello
My Motor home is built on a 57 Plate MK7 transit, standard keys no remote locking
So when the insurance ask what do I tell them it has in the way of Alarms and immobiliser?

When insurance companies have asked me I told them it’s the Ford standard chipped ket set up I also tell them I have replock door key and always use a disc lock on the steering wheel when parked up .

The standard Ford immobiliser is a Thatcham Cat 2 immobiliser, if you have a Ford standard alarm with interior sensors, then that's a Thatcham Cat 1.
If you don't have central locking, then I'm guessing that you have separate key locks on all of the doors, you might have to tell that to the insurance company as it's not a standard configuration :?

Thanks its the online ones that are the issue as I need to be accurate if they give me an option, the ones I call are not an issue?
The key has a blue chip thing on it so I assumed it was for an imobiliser?
