2006 Mk7 ford transit 2.4 tdci euro 4

Postby Boonjason » Wed Mar 27, 2024 7:47 pm

Can anyone help I've done a injector balance test with ford ids and I'm getting these readings
Cylinder balance 1 is at 2.45mg
Cylider balance 2 is at -284 ug
Cylinder balance 3 is at -240 ug
Cylinder balance 4 is at -1.83 mg
Does anyone know if they are good or bad the van is running rough and any help would be very appreciated thanks

Ideally they should be within +/- 1.0.

Have you done the pump, pilot & injector learns..?? Might help.

Can't do them as it's running rough and smokes really bad mate when I plugged it in it said injector 1 restricted so change that 1 but no change and they should be all around the same when doing the cylinder balance knobby1 mate but stuck on this 1 I'm thinking 1 of the cylinders is bad

Give it an "injector leak-off" test.....this will give a good indication of injector health.

i dont think you can really do anything with those results

as the results are other injectors compensating for the bad one . so all over the place

I think the real test would be put them all in a test jig and see what they are doing.

you need to send hem away to do that .

something that a DIY person cant do , even a main dealer mechanic would not have the equipment. and replace the lot with those results.

of course, it could be other things like bad valves or holed piston.

so while all your injectors are not stuck, take them all out and do a compression test..to eliminate that .

all the best.mark

I'd do a leak-off test first...you need to do several injector balance checks to get an average rather than just one reading.

We've seen bad injector balance checks come good after a run on the learns.....leak-off test will confirm.

Did you code in new injector ? Like his lordship said doing all the learns can work wonders, and leak off test would be better to see what ones are faulty, I take it it's got new fuel filter in it ?

Thanks Mark but doing a compression test means taking out the glow plugs and if 1 snaps mark then I've got split the engine to get it out mate

is that because the glow plugs screw in and the injectors are pushed in and have no threads to screw in a compression tester.

there is another way, if you have scanner that gives a graph of the cranking amps
