P0149 P1564 Error codes New Engine

Hello all, Long story short I have a 54plate 90 T350 Jumbo 130k the timing chain went on it. Anyway brand new ford installed engine.

It randomly lacks power, when stationary and all is ok the engine will rev to 5000rpm no probs. When the engine lacks power it will only rev to 4100rpm. If the engine is turned of and on again the problem will go away.

error codes are

P0149 Ford garage has just checked the pump timing under the engine guarantee all ok.

they say that to fix P1564 error code it will cost me for them to investigate.

I could fix it my self but what might the problem be??

If you have 0149 (fuel pump timing error) AND 1564 (reduced fuelling to prevent engine damage),

Either there is a timing fault,sometimes get this after new pump fit (or swap to your new engine) if not done right & slack in chain between crank & pump pulley,there is a t.s.b for it.

Or if engine has a loud rattle/heavy diesel knock also,it`s the timing solenoid on fuel pump.


If both of these are ok,pump can also do this,seen front bearing fail causing play & this fault.
