HELP!! Mk6 Fuel pump problem??? Martin or Coconut u there???

Postby Gurj51ngh » Thu Oct 15, 2009 7:52 pm

Yes once again my mk6 LWB H/T remapped 75ps is giving me trouble. I was driving down the A406 doing 60 odd and all of a sudden the van went in to limp mode so I though ooo EGR valve once again as it had been 0k since I changed my last 1. So I did what I use to do back then switched the engine of whilst moving took it out of gear released clutch and gas and tried to fire her up whilst moving. But this just did not happen and it came to a rolling stop.

After 3 hours the AA turned up and the guy plugged his Panasonic diagnostic lap top tster in and it came up with

PO167O2 sensor
PO335 Crankshaft sensor
P1s64 Fuel pump reduced fueling
P1664 F.I.P malfunction
F1665 F.I.P communication

The AA guy said the fuel pump is a goner so I had to be towed home. I spoke to a couple of friends who said start with the crankshaft sensor and fuel filter. Which I did today but still no joy the van tries to start up but like something holding it back and the engine is turning over but not starting up if that makes sense.

I also cleaned the EGR valve, The crankshaft sensor was a c*** to change as the sensor came out and left its housing inside the hole took me 2 hours to do a 10 min job!.

What I want to know is what is the next thing FUEL pump or may it be something else? Is there any way the pump can be reprogrammed by martin (vantuner)or someone? Tried to contact him but not available. Or do I have to splash out £600.00 on a recon pump? Geoff said he will look out for a second hand 75ps pump for me. But i really need the van back on the road asap.

Also the day the van died I done 300 miles an hour or so before on the same tank of fuel and I still had maybe quater or more remaining.

Any help will be great as I dont wana spend £1k sorting out a pump. May as well sell the van for parts.

Thank you :( :) :D

Check fuel supply upto pump/out of filter head, then power supply to pump before condemning it.
Could be wiring but not usually an issue on RWD`s.....

nothing mate. no smoke at all. I remember the AA guy sprayed some clear stuff through the air filter hose and that made a difference more of a turn over like as it were actually gona come alive and some very little white smoke from exhaust. Very little smoke though and only when he sprayed that stuff. Nothing when i crank her over now.

Have you tried to crack open one of the injectors to see if fuel is coming out? If it is still coming out it sounds to me as if it's your fuel pmp timing. The edc can be taken off the pump and fixed had mine done 3 months ago and it's been fine since. The folk that fixed it were chipgods.com email mark@chipgods.com or phone him on 07732033551

That P0167 O2 sensor is a strange one, because, as far as I can make out, there are no O2 sensors on a diesel engine :?

Hi mate, just been out and undone one of the injectors and tried to start her up, Fuel came pouring out. I could not see how fast it was coming out as I was the one trying to start it and having a look. But what I can say is that it made a little puddle of diesel with 2 attempts to star her up.

SO now dose this mean the pump is ok? and all i need to do is have the timing sorted out by someone with the correct software??

My brother also mentioned something about timing saying timing chain or fuel pump timing is out. But as he is not a mechanic he was just guessing.

Thanks for the help people.

When I sent my edc away this was his diagnosis>
'It has suffered a solenoid faulted overload of the control board, and requires some new parts fitted.'
I told him to go ahead and fix it and when it came back I put it back on and it fired up straight away and has been fine ever since.
