It's part of the pump. Electronic Diesel Control Unit.http://www.dieselpumprepairs.com/ Watch the vid .You can take it off with the pump still in place which is what I done,I posted it away when it came back just put it back on and away it went. I wonder how many folk have had the full fuel pump replaced when they could have just had this edc fixed?

Sorry Gurj - I had the worst flu/migraine/backache\ combo i have ever known  - I didnt go near a PC till the weekend had to turn everything off for a few days.

Your problem sounds like classic pump ecu ( aka edu) failure , but of course , read & clear codes & see what returns after a regular , ( non tow ) start attempt & we will act on that :)

I have asked Guy88 about an old 90 pump he offered me some time back & that may , if its still available , make an ideal donor if your pump or just pump ECU is mash-up - you could put his ecu on without removing your whole pump maybe to save some hrs..

If that's the route to go I'll come over & re-initialize everything to your main ECU no problem...

On an ultra low budget vibe - i know roughly how to repair the pump ecu's common problems but not done one yet so may not be best / fastest solution.. :)

Let us know what the diag man says today &

I'll let you know if guys pump is available ..

Martyn.

Thanks for getting martin! Glad your all well mate we all need our remapping GURU to be well :P

Anyways the guy popped over today and the two fault codes that came up are

P1564
&
P1664

He said when these two faults come up together this mean the pump or in other words the EDC has had it! He tried to clear them but it would not have it!

I did speak to Guy but he has got shot of his engine with the pump :(

But I have found a firm who can repair the EDC I just need someone to pull it out for me. Apparently it can be done whilst the pump is still in place :?: :? I dont fancy doing it so need someone to pop over.

Also for anyone following this thread pup cost are
NEW from FORD £850.00 plus £200.00 labour charges from local mobile mechanic.
Recon pump from Transit parts with guarantee £600.00 labour charges same.
Second hand pump around £200.00 - £350.00 if you can find one. But only buy one from someone you know!!!

Plus you need to add another £50.00 on all the above charges to have the pump re programmed to your ECU! SO all in all very expensive sh*t!!

Best option is send you EDC of for a check up to these guys http://www.dieselpumprepairs.com/#/cont ... 4533011261

Or have a chat with Martynx (vantuner)
