I never said you did. However, LDV didn't fit a 3.0l engine in the Convoy or the Pilot, only the Maxus, which was a Fiat engine anyway

The Pilot had 1.9l Peugeot diesels. I think later models had the 2.0l FWD Duratorq.
The Convoy either 76ps Di Banana or 100ps Di Turbo, both superceeded by the 2.4 Duratorq in either 75ps n/a or 85ps Turbo in 2000.

Is it?

It the Mondeo which has a Transit engine, not the other way round

yeah plus the engine is far powerfull enough for a transit and more robust than the 2.4, as it has less displacement smaller stroke, less stress.
jaguar use the same engine and also

TDCi 16v ZSD ("Puma") 2.0 L (1998 cc)
2.2 L (2198 cc)
2.4 L (2402 cc)
2.5 L
3.0 L

?–? I4 turbo intercooled 16-valve DI Ford Mondeo, Ford Transit, Jaguar X-TYPE, LDV, London Taxi TX1 & TXII, Citroen Jumper, Peugeot Boxer, Fiat Ducato

the 2.2 duratorque is a 2.0 engine with a 2.4 crank fitted.

also, ducatos are fiats vans, which are joined with citroen psa, which have been in a joint venture with engine design since 1998.

I am well aware of that :!:

Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat vans are all the same, just different badges and subtle design tweaks.

The Pug Boxer, Citroen Relay and Fiat Ducato all use the Fiat-built engines.

That engine won't fit the Transit, unless the MK7 is fitted with the Fiat 2.2l JTD

Oh, I don't mind LDVs too much. Good workhorses and they don't tend to rust as much, if at all. I'm not a fan of the Maxus though

Last three or four years, since the facelift model was introduced.

The smaller Pug and Citroen vans use the Pug engines though, also the Fiat Scudo.

Looks like I'll be OK with a FWD then, good cross section of comments.
Thanks :)
Now where's the best place to get one in Lincolnshire?
Has anyone had any thing to do with Vaun Dent Commercials or Donnington Commercials?

FWD all the way.

- lower overall weight due to lack of driveshafts means higher payload
- lower floor in rear means u can usually get away with med top not h/t
- drives like a car when empty
- wont get stuck on a patch of grass!
