I'm often right, except when it's a dialogue between myself and the wife, then i'm ALWAYS wrong

Low pads would be my guess, if it were down to a leak it'd have affected the brake performance in some way be it lost effort through fluid contamination or a soft pedal through fluid loss.

Leaky slave cylinder?

Ive never had a set of pads go so low that the fluid warning light came on on anything Ive owned. Tbh, Ive never heard of it either. Loss of braking performance/ a change in pedal feel can be a gradual process, rendering it hard to spot unless you drive more than one of that particular model.

Worth a shufty about as with it being a weight bearing commercial vehicle, braking performance is a key point.
