Mk6 2.3 LPG problem

Postby chrisban » Mon Jul 17, 2006 6:06 pm

Hi all, just bought a 2.3 petrol LPG ford fitted system. Has anyone got one of these? Sometimes it will switch off the lpg system on its own. Any ideas why it does this?

It's reverting to petrol when driving because of a fault condition on the LPG system.

This could simply be because of a blocked filter or out of spec stage 1 or 2 pressures.

Yeah i suppose it means taking it into a main dealer to have it checked out. Phoned a main dealer today for a manual on the LPG system and they were no help at all as usual. Cheers anyway.

TBH a main dealer would be the last place I took it, unless they are a Backbone transit specialist dealer.

A good LPG installer will be able to sort it for you at a fraction of the cost.

There is a simple way of blink coding the system to get most fault codes, simply by earthing out a wire near the fuse box on the passenger side of the dashboard.

I'd not look for too deep in the electronics until the LPG dry filter and the differential pressure on the vaporiser have been checked/changed/adjusted.
