Battery move

Postby Auntie's Bloke » Sat Jul 22, 2006 10:08 am

Hi Guys & Gals, the problem I have with my Mk6 is that I find the seat too high and there is no height adjustment on it. I have a woopee doo suspension seat which I rescued from my old smiley and would like to replace the drivers seat with it.
The problem is the battery under the seat! is this moveable?
I'd like to put it behind the drivers seat for access, how do I extend the cables? Are there any other problems associated with moving the battery? :?
Whose bright idea to put it there was it anyway (bet they're paid a fortune drive a BMW :x )
Any/all help and advice would be appreciated.
Get outa my way, coming through!

anythings possable
personally id replace the entire run of cable rather than joining an extra length on the starter and earth cable - the other small wires should be ok to be extended! if your only extending them a bit you shouldnt have any problems - i relocated my escorts battery to the boot and it caused some problems starting due to the long cable run :(
you will also need a cover over the battery to stop anything conductive touching both terminals
