irange is it a mk7 you have ? if it is ill get you my pt nos tomorrow morning. your switch wont be a problem. the right switch from ford was around £16 and will only fit one of the connectors behind the blanks on the dash, so you cant go wrong. :D

does anyone know the part numbers for the 2 relays, and where i pick up the wiring loom/what colour connector it is?
Ian

As from kit i bought farther up this thread..

Relays - Gen Ford boxes, each have three numbers on..

Relay 1: 5M5T14B192EA and H45556 and 1425754
Relay 2: 88AG14512AB and H26199 and 47515536
Switch - 96FG18K574AA and H23109 and 1011867

Enclosed is also a supposed wiring diagram - Dont shoot the messenger if it's wrong..!

To All, not just Ian..
In my book (having actually paid for this info) all i ask in return is, if you actually do this conversion then post back on this great site about how it went, and any hurdles etc you have to go through to get there; don't just saunter off and forget the rest of us..
Think that's fair enough ?!

Now bloody go and do it :D

Success!
Ordered the 2 relays and the switch. The switch and one of the relays arrived last month, fitted them with no problems (has to remove the centre section of the dash) and the second relay arrived today as it was on back order. I have fitted it tonight, and when I started the engine and flicked the switch, the switch lit up and the headlights dimmed a bit, so I think its working.
I will test tomorrow if the screen is frozen!

Thanks to all who commented on the post especially the guy who supplied part numbers.

To recap. The screen cost me my £50 insurance excess (it was damaged anyway legitimately) plus the local company (always better off going to a local guy rather than the big companies) charged me £25 extra for the heated screen.
Then about £80 for the two relays and the switch.

Sorted.

Hi Guys
I have a 2008 Ford Transit which I assume is a MK6 ? It is a motorhome (long wheel base high top) van originally from the UK I believe, fitted out in Australia, and now resides in my driveway in New Zealand. Every time I call my local FOrd dealer, they seem to comment something like 'haha oh you have one of those! let me go to the other computer!)

Yesterday we put a new windscreen fitted, and I noticed that the wiring was in place for a heated screen, so I requested a heated screen and got one fitted. All done under unsurance, so it hasnt cost me anything thus far. From what I have googles online, I dont have the heated windscreen switch, and from what I can gather searching the forums etc, I dont think it come out of the factory with one!
After reading this thread, I can see that it is possible? but im wanting to know if anyone can shed some light on the location of the relays/fuses/switch and if it would be a plug and play option. I havent got a book for the van, so thus far have been relying on google and outside help from forums etc.
Im not even sure that its a MK6 but I assume so given its year.
Is there a wreckers/breakers yard that I can source parts from in the UK? we dont really have the parts over here (that I can find) and if its not in the ford catalouge then they call the UK and find out, most of my parts are ex UK and 3-4 weeks, also pretty expensive.

I will carry on researching, but any help would be great.
Thanks
Andrew

An 08 should be a mk7, but, some times the campers are very late to be regestered?

So.......... Top or bottom?

Below looks like a mk7

Wiring wise they are very different, so knowing what one it is will help us to give out the right help :D

Gidday Punto443, Thanks for the pictures, according to this it will be a MK7, ive found a thread on Mk7 heated windscreens on here so I will have a read through that.
Next thing I think I need to do is see if the wiring is in place from the underseat fuse box, see if the relays are in place (I know the switch is missing) and see how much of a mission its all going to be haha. I also read that it needs to be turned on with an ids?? what is an ids?? Im sure i could get access to one on the weekend from someone who works at a ford dealer in another town :)

Today I have pulled out the D side seat to check for the wiring for the windscreen (which was good as I was able to fix all the terminal corrosion on the batteries at the same time!) and it seems the main 2 feeds are there, and the 2 x 40Amp fuses are in place. I have also checked that Rela 22 Relay 26 have the terminals present, so they are ready to receive the right relays, and popped the blank out, which had the plus set to go for the switch. Im absolutly wrapped, as now this is a straight forward job for me (Hopefully!) of plug in a couple of relays and switch and all is well. I have tracked down an IDS from a Ford dealer (salesman friend of mine) so will have a play with that and turn that option on, whilst also turning off the anti hijacking feature!!
Thank you for the few pointers required! Now to try and track down a couple of relays and switch! (anywhere easy I can source these from? perhaps overseas is alot easier than over here!)
