egr valve and smoke on 07 2.2 transit

hi hope someone can be of help???

well basicly my ford transit 2.2 fwd eninge management light came on at about 18k miles so i got the snap-on man to clear it and see what it was ? , he said it was the egr valve and cleared it ( he used to work for ford ) he said it would be fine they are dodgy and to try cleaning it but would probaly want a new one to pass mot !

anyway carryed on using it did about 2k miles then light came back on kept driving it after cleaning out valve , never got light cleared

Anyway last week eml went off it now done 29k miles so thought ideal but yesterday everytime i start it when it cold it smokes really bad and fails to rev for a few second and also when i pull away at junctions a puff of smoke appears only small but very black !!

can anyone help ??

think u might be looking at a new egr valve. ford brought out an up graded egr valve as there are known issues with the old set. normally when a vale is fitted its recommended to have a pcm update done as well,as this recalibration of the pcm makes it less sensitive to egr faults and the light does not come on.

Defo needs a new EGR, will be blocked up solid with carbon,

Yep, blank it & run with the light on
