A low output battery charger, or a smart charger will do it

I just wanted to say that today i found out the jump leads I used last Wednesday Were sh** and didn't work hence the reason the battery didn't charge
I would like to clean the starter motor anyway as it has been sitting for a while. Would you be able to tell me where it is and the best way to access it?

Cheers
Bradley

Like I said the alternator doesn't charge the battery the same way a trickle charger does it will just give you a little extra. the battery still won't be charged to full capacity and isn't good for the battery. Using jump leads is still using an alternator.

I almost totally flatend my battery last week it only just started, then checked the voltage today and it's only 12.3 so only half charged now after running it normally for a week. I will only be able to get it to full capacity by trickle charging it which I am now.

What do you want the starter off for?

Without the battery voltage even a brand new starter won't work???

tbh normally if a battery gets to 2v it is normally buggered, but till you top it up and give it a try not worth getting a new one, plus to get the same spec battery as original would prob be at least £100.
Looking at the starter before sorting battery voltage is an even bigger waste of time and money.... :?

and the best jump leads in the world wouldn't get that battery at 2v going as said the alt isn't going to sort it the same as a trickle charge and top up if needed.
