110ps connect egr fault

Eml is on my van had codes read po489 po490 egr fault. Can i clean egr? To stop light coming on? Van is running fine no loss of power.

Mine had same fault P0490 EGR control circuit above maximum threshold but no eml on I blanked it off van runs so much better it had very bad turbo lag but blanking off the EGR sorted it out cleaning it seems to be a messy job blanking it was easier

Ok ive bought a blanking plate the type with no hole. Fitted plate van runs alot better eml stays on but went off but now its came back on If i drill a hole in the plate will this turn the eml out for good?

It depends if it's a TDCi or TDDi, the former needs the hole the latter doesn't!

You may get an engine management light flash on with a TDCi still though.. Mine did the other day for about 15 miles. I should probably check the blank is clean at some point....

My tdci has a blank with no hole, I asked van tuner. No light as yet and it's been on for a few months now.

Any problem with the egr circuit will throw on the MIL light & blanking off the egr will not solve the problem.

P0489 Exhaust Gas Recirculation "A" Control Circuit Low
P0490 Exhaust Gas Recirculation "A" Control Circuit High

Euro 4 engine with electronic egr controlled by stepper motor - fitted to connects from 2006 onwards. - Advisable to have whole in blanking plate.
Euro 3 engine with EVP egr controlled by vacuum & position sensor (looks like a UFO) - fitted to connects 2003-2006 - NO hole required in blanking plate
