shudder vibrations under load

Postby ginsters » Sun Aug 10, 2014 8:44 am

looking for a bit of wisdom

fitted the new engine in the red van about 8 weeks ago and all been going well few gremlins here and there but seems to have developed a shudder from around 2000 revs and by the time its at 4500 it feel like its about to jump into a black hole!

checked the drive shafts and tyres and nothing else seems to be loose, ive a spare gearbox clutch and flywheel that i could fit but would rather not right now

any other ideas??

Thanks 8)

Ive got exactly the same thing going on, I did notice a clip had come off on the fuel tank shield and it was bouncing around, im pretty convinced thats whats causing the issue, will get around to sorting it at some point, might be something worth looking at

MIne has started to shudder/vibratrion, more noticeable when pulling off & can be felt through steering column.

Not present when cruising at 60...

I suspect worn inner CV joint on O/S driveshaft as there is play in it - Halfshaft bearing is fine.
So new shaft on order (J&R)..

Also may have worn O/S front wheel bearing so will get that done at the same time.

Check the motor/transmission mounts. I had a broken trans mount and the engine was floating freely under the bonnet.

Didn't you fit new shafts to yours from J&R when you put the new engine in Paul?

Fitted a new N/S shaft from J&R as inner CV boot was split & was quicker just to change out the shaft.

I used the original O/S one, at the time appeared to be ok.

Visually by yanking the engine with a help from a rod for some leverage. Don't break anything!

There were some guidelines how much the engine may move measured from the valve cover, but I can't recall.
