Pats problem

Postby The lace » Tue Sep 30, 2014 2:14 pm

Hi guys, new here but hoping for some help.
I have a 55 plate connect and at the ring at ignition barrel has got a broken connector for the wires, I tried to solder the wires on direct as the green connector was broken but had to trial and error the cables to get them in the correct order. Now all soldered up but I am still getting the quick flash of the led on the dash and nothing seems to be happening. Desperately looking for a fix ASAP for this. I am hoping that during my trial and error placements of the cables hasn't somehow damaged the pub in the module attached to the ring. Any help would be very much appreciated. Even if there is a temp bypass solution just to get it going for now as it's my work van,
Thanks in advance

Hi folks, a wee update on the problem. I have changed over the aerial on ignition ( the ring that is around entry to barrel) with another from same year and spec as my van. Was expecting it to work but that's proven to not be the case. I am, not getting any fault codes flashing up as the led just blinks fast consistently.
Does this sound like anything anyone has experienced previously?

You've pkugged it in to the OBD port and check the codes? Some people think the the dash codes are for the whole can. Although have you tried those aswell?

I don't have the kit for the port to check codes that way unfortunately, I thought if I changed over the aerial ring with a replica from same year of van it would work. I'm not sure if this would require recoding, I thought it wouldn't as really it's only an aerial. If anyone has info regarding having to recode this ring it would be gratefully received

PAT's what code is it flashing ?

when ignition is switched on, light will flash rapidly then pause. Flash a few times then pause again before flashing the final sequence.

for example, after flashing rapidly then pausing it flashes once then pause again & flashes twice.

Code is 12

Managed to get a code from the flashing lights on the dash, appears to be code 11 . I have looked on here to decipher the code but it's my next step I'm worried about. Should an auto spark be able to remedy this or is it a case of using a ford garage?
