2006 Ford Connect 1.8tdci T200L lack of power

Postby MartinM2k18 » Tue Jul 17, 2018 9:11 pm

I recently bought a connect 1.8tdci T200L but the van lacks power and will not go over 85 mph. I have just done a service on it and the air filter was in a bad way and there was soot in the turbo vanes as you can see from the pics at first the van struggled to go over 3500 rpm and I could feel a flat spot I have disconnect the air flow sensor and the van goes over 3500 rpm in 3rd and 4th but once you go in to 5th it just stops pulling I know it’s hard to say with how vague a description I have given yous just looking for some help I have never seen a air filter in such a bad state.

Well it certainly looks like the engine has not been serviced in a long time.
If the air filter is anything to go by, the fuel filter is over due a change as well.
Give the van a full service, and run some fuel cleaner through the system as well.
However if your van is a 75ps model then 85mph is about right. My 90ps model was flat at 95mph [sat-nav] on a motorway.
