Part Identifier Help Please

Postby axxeman » Sat Aug 04, 2018 4:50 pm

Sorry - no photo :(

What's the black plastic tube, vertically mounted on the metal bracket that runs behind the battery, on the far right of the engine bay with a tube coming out of the bottom called?

And what is its function?

Thanks ...

It's the gearbox ventilation unit.

That's the one - well done. It has become detached from the metal bulkhead that it was (obviously) bolted to. Any idea of the size the bolt should be (mm thread x mm length)?

Thanks so far though :)

I've had a look at mine and it seems to be held on by some sort of plastic clip. I think it might be part of that tube.

Oh! Mine is attached to a rectangular piece of plastic which has a threaded hole that lines up with one on the battery bulkhead. I guess as there's no load to speak of, it'll be something nominal around 6mm.

Excellent pictures matey. Thank you very much. It looks as if the black plastic block is attached to the metal strip but that the tube just clips into it. I'll look closer at mine now I have seen that. I had an engine change earlier in the year and I think that, after four days working on it, my fellow got a little anxious to finish the job and so missed one or two bits. Not to worry - I'll get it sorted now rather than let it flop around in, admittedly, a small area.

Again, many thanks for the great help.

Same as mine. Should be a round hole in the bracket coming from the battery tray to the inner wing. Mine has a plastic stud holding it on. I always wondered what the function of that cylindrical plastic thing bay the battery was! Nice one mate, all the best.

Yeah mate, you can see the plastic stud poking through the metal bracket on the first photo that Sparky put up. But if yours is broke, then i would assume that Mr Cable tie could be the only option! Lol
