There must be an easier way

Postby Carbon Tech » Mon Mar 08, 2010 6:28 pm

Hi Guy's changed my engine oil and filter yesturday Sunday 7th could not beleave how hard it was to remove the filter, there i was, jacked up van on my back underneath reached up could not budge it finally put on chain rench, off it comes, then took ages to work out how to get the canister out of the engine bay, decided that it had to go out from the bottom, but the only way was to prize it past the 3-off brake pipes or what ever they are, then it came out, next re-fit new filter screwed on no problem but i could not get any purchase on it to tighten it 3/4 turn in the end i had to put chain rench back on and turn till i was happy , went down local car spares shop to try and get cup type locker/unlocker to fit end of filter , all to small , i could not beleave it was so hard and took along time to complete a very simple job.. :? :? :?

Or did i miss something and get it completely wrong ..........any help guy's for the next time...... :? :? :? :?

There is a bracket from the diff casing to cross member undo main fixing bolt and lever engine forward /down from underneath, this will give you the room you need to remove oil filter re-tighten bolt to 80Nm

Do you have to remove anything else like the wheel arch liner? I've got mine to do this weekend.
