Alternator / Battery problem?

What make Alternator did they give you? Please dont say an RTX one.
If they did mate they are sh*t.
I had exactly the same problem with an RTX. Well 3 of them. I got a Lucas unit in the end. All problems solved once fitted.

I'm afraid so, i originally went for a Lucas unit but because it was a bare unit and a staff member broke one of the welded nuts off the original connector hub while trying to undo the retaining nut, they offered me this alternative.

I'm calling them tomorrow anyway, but i can't do anything for the next week as i'm away on a course.

Ok alternator No3 has now been fitted but i still have the same smart charge fault.

So i'll be taking it back out tomorrow and getting my money back, then going to get a Lucas unit as i've managed to get a pulley.

Fingers crossed that this will be sorted once and for all.

Bought a Lucas unit yesterday for an extra £17, fitted it and all is well - no fault codes what so ever.

Maybe I can actually start using this van now?! lol

Totally agree, I went through 3 aswell all with the same fault.

But then not everyone has a fault code reader to hand, the average think as long as its charging all is ok hence not everyone returns them.
