Guy for the engine shop guessed it was a head from a lpg vehicles, saying they all do it.
Been told not to run it all the time on lpg
Hi,
You should always start on petrol- it helps lubricate the valve seats or fit a flashlube type upper cylinder lubricant kit. when the van is up to temp then switch over, also... leave the petrol tank 1/4 full.. the petrol pump continues to run to pressurise the fuel rail if you run less than 1/4 tank you will over time burn out the fuel pump.
Also, LPG burns hotter and drier than petrol hence the exhaust valve issues. retarding the ignition will help or see what lpg system it has, some transits I used to work on used koltek distributors( which burn out with a passion) and prinz systems- I've been off the tools and lpg fitting a few years and they have most likely changed again..
if you can find out the system you can possibly get the software..
we used to increase the lpg fuel map load by around 5-12% over the stock settings from tickover to around 2500 rpm that would improve things too.. but it was always a 'suck it and see' while sitting in the passenger seat with the laptop during a roadtest..
hope this might help
Cheers!
Steve
BTW- cheers for the speedy service with the intercooler hoses off ebay!
