The st170 one will be a different shape hole in the box and has a wider opening on the snorkel. If you find an st170 then get the whole thing as the snorkel from the st will not fit the airbox from a different model focus.

As long as it's from a 1998 R reg to 2005 05 reg mk1/1.5 focus (1.8/2.0l pet 1.8 diesel either) it will be the same

What does fitting a Focus airbox achieve, better performance?

I'm guessing it's only needed if the van has other performance modifications that require more airflow into the engine?

It wont really increase power but it will make it a bit more responsive compared to the swan neck one. the swan neck actually goes 3/4 of the way inside the standard airbox so is very restrictive.

The gains from the airbox are very small, the cold air effect is also very slight (especially in the winter), the inlet pipe makes a small difference too, but probably the main thing that makes a difference in having a nice clean air filter in place.

On a non turbo vehicle the gains are much greater, but when you have an intercooler you reduce much of the cold air gain. If someone was to measure the intake temp before and after this mod they'd see it for themselves.

NO, The pre 1976 datsun is not compatible, Im not 100% sure but im 99.9% sure you need the ignition leads off the Datsun 120Y to run with the connect set up.And only a mad man would think of fitting them off a 240z, All that power would rip your little van to peaces.
