won't turn over

Can somebody please shed some light on a problem i have on my 2004 connect
I didn't have any problems leading upto to this and then one morning it would not start. when i put the key into the ignition and turn nothing, the dash lights up and the battery is ok, I've noticed the heater plug light doesn't go out, the milage won't come on and the security light flashes as it does without the key in, I've tried my spare key and still the same. They lock and open the doors without any problems.
Homestart Recovery said that my battery and starter motor are ok but the starter motor isn't getting a live feed. I then rang an auto electrician who checked it over for a couple of hours but could not find the problem. His conclusion was rather a problem with ecu or immobiliser.
I am going to try and reset the ecu to see if that works other than that could anyone please help

Sounds like solenoid on starter has failed and wont engage pinion to flywheel to start vehicle.

Both the home recovery guy and the auto electrician actually turned over the starter motor from under the bonnet which sounded ok
