Fitting Mk3 Mondeo Electric seats

Postby CamsTrans » Sat Oct 13, 2012 4:04 pm

Hi all; I've picked myself up some leather Mondeo seats on ebay. Was expecting basic leather seats but when they arrived I found a fully electric heated drivers seat and a heated passenger with a cd autochanger underneath it! I thought if I'm going to put them in I might as well have them working too. Anyone had any experience fitting these?
The drivers seat has just a single plug with 3 pins for it all then the electric controller that clips into the plastic vanity cover on the side.
The passenger seat has just 2 pins for the heating.
I'm leaving the yellow plugs be as they are the pretensioner's and airbags.
From a few google searches it looks like I can run the lot off a 15amp fuse so I'll be looking to use the under bonnet fuse box possibly then running that to the back of the heater switch (that I haven't got yet) and connecting it up with the instrument light cable for the radio so it lights up with the rest of the dash.
If anyone is interested in the cd autochanger they are welcome to it for postage cost I dont know if it works or not and it doesn't have the plastic case that you put all your cds in.. But if anyone wants to take a punt on it

I have fitted Mondeo Mk2 Leather seats (Fully electric) in my connect.

The mondeo mk3 seat fitment is Identical to the mk2.

I had to fabricate steel mountings with 2" pillars at the front for them, As the runners on the seat at the front actually seat higher than the back.

If you just bolt the seat to a flat steel plate, you will found that the seats are not level, are tilted forward & sit alot lower that the standard connect seats.

I have bolted mine to 10mm thick plate and have adjsuted the feet of the seat so they bolt flat and i dont sit any lower than i did in my connect seats and if you ask a few people who have done it this way you might find the same answer.

I'm going to ask Paul if he does any mounts as I don't have much time at the moment...But I may end up putting mine onto some box section or something; especially as I'll probably be able to pick it up for free  All about knowing the right people and having a agricultural supply place about 2 minutes up the road is very handy and even better when you know the guys in the workshop
My last project they helped me with; just ignore any of my welding on it
