18x8.5 Fifteen52 Tarmacs ET40 with 225/40/18

I just sold the Tarmacs and I am finishing up these custom 17x8 Steelies. I wanted 17"x8" wheels to allow for a little more tire (225/45/17 vs. 225/40/18) and an agressive look. I wanted something that matched the commercial look of the van too. So I decided wide steelies. I searched everywhere for something in the bolt pattern I want (5x108) and the biggest I could find was 16x7.5 and that wasn't going to give me the look I am after. My solution is a bit crazy.
I am using 4 17x4 volvo spare wheels from mid 2000s Volvo models. This gives me the correct bolt pattern.

There are 2 ways to widen the wheels. The most common method would be to cut the rim in half and then weld in a big steel hoop and reuse the center and the rim lips. This required alot more welding and the resulting wheel is heavier. The way I did it is found a set of brand new 17x8 "hoops". So the centers of the wheels are machined out of the spare 17x4 hoops leaving just 4 wheels centers. Luckily the diameters worked out perfectly and the Volvo spare centers fit right in the new hoops. Then they are trued up, offset is set, and they are welded. You can see the finished product below.

The plan is to powdercoat them a bright silver. And then I am making custom black center caps (that just fit over the lugs). The final goal will be a plus sized version of this style wheel with much lower profile tires:
