Van wont start, immobiliser light flashing fast

Postby myweevan » Thu Apr 04, 2013 10:38 pm

Hi, Had battery out my van to charge it for a day or 2, and prior to that tried jump leads.

Now i have everything back the way it was, with new alternator, fully charged battery etc i have power in everything, but van wont start. The little red light flashes as normal when ignition is off, but changes to very fast when its on.

Have i Un Synced my van and its key? if my van even has that. (04 plate) ?

Help!

Please dont say go to a dealer, my nearest is about 140 miles away!

Thanks!

2004 connect Immobilser (PATS) fault,

Now the fault could be with 3 things, your key. Transceiver (black ring around ignition barrel) or Engine ECU.

You dont have to go to main dealer, any garage that has suitable equipment should be able to sort it for you. Or at least inform you what part is faulty.

Havnt really had much time today, but did establish that after 30 seconds or a minute it stops flashing rapidly and gives oin flash followed by five. or it could be the other way round. does that help at all?

Re: PATS CODE

switch ignition on
immo lamp illuminates for three seconds under normal conditions
if it illuminates for one minute, wait and count flashes
the flash code consists of two groups of flashes (one set for each digit of the code) so * ** will be code 12
if you mis-count don't worry they are cycled ten times - or just start again

if the LED flashes rapidly the vehicle is immobilised

codes and definitions are:-

11 - immo control module not connected (wiring, reader coil connection, control module connection etc)
12 - immo control module not working correctly (duff immo module)
13 - key code not received or key programming failed (faulty key or key obscured)
14 - partial key code received (faulty or obscured key)
15 - key not programmed into immo module (reprogram or try different key)
16 - faulty link between immo module and ECU (wiring fault)
21 - less than three keys programmed (program more keys as necessary)
22 - ROM error - no ECU ID stored (duff ECU)
23 - ECU ID mismatch (duff ECU)
31 - code transmission error between immo control unit and ECU (wiring or ECU programming error)
32 - ECU/immo control unit comms - no response from ECU (wiring, immo control module)
33 - comms error (wiring, duff ECU or duff immo control unit)

Code 15... key not programmed into immo module (reprogram or try different key)

If I have code 13 coming and have checked the hey at Aylesbury lock and key and they say the key is working. Would it likely be the black ring and can I fit myself with basic tools?

Now I have error message 11 no local mechanics want to touch it. Locks keep randomly trying to lock whilst I'm sat in the vehicle.

Welcome to my world!! No local people want to get involved and Ford want mega money which in effect writes off the van! At the moment its a garden ornament....

Fingers crossed for you to get it fixed soon mate. The black ring is easy enough to take on aand off. I cant remember if you need a torx screw driver or if its Phillips. Just a couple of bit of trim to take out to access the ring the 2 screws to change it. If I remember I;ll check in the morning.

Hope its just the ring, they are about a tenner on ebay............

Hi Right Spanner.
Had a similar problem on my wifes Ford KA, It kept locking/unlocking the doors. It was due to a bad connection in the wires between door and chassis. Try to undo the connectors to the doors and spray them using a connection cleaner. They need a twist to come off.
