Crap at buying cars and vans!

Postby Cjm180 » Sun May 12, 2013 4:29 am

Hi guys
I am absolutly crap and buying vehicles. I always seem to pay top dollar and sell for peanuts. I got a little family now so need to watch the pennies.

Anyway just wanted to ask a q

2004 connect 75ps basic
Good condition outside and in
55k fsh ex council.
Roof rack
£3250 plus vat. He said might be able to do something with vat as its for personal use.

Does this sound reasonable or expensive. Or what figure should I go in for!

Any advice greatly welcomed. Also what to check on forecourt? Any tips

Thanks

Craig

I bought my from brittish car auctions and was an ex mite van, mine was £3250 plus vat and is a 2008 90ps tidy in and out with 73k, ffsh, so I would say it was a little on the high side?

Thanks for the quick responses. Ok. He is a little expensive. What would be a good price to go in at? I don't really want to spend 3250. I think I am happy with the van, pending a test drive. Just want it cheap as possible?

Gumtree, autotrader, local auctions and eBay I took 2-3 month to find the right one. Was originally budgeting for a mk6 but a mk7 came along dirt cheap. Just be patient and your van will find you.

I went along to have a look at it anyway. It was 49 miles away. Got there and spotted some damage to the roof rack. Had a look round and it was a bit tatty. Thought I would take it for a spin as I had traveled so far. Put key in and turned. Nothing. Told the guy. 2 battery packs later still nothing. Walked away

I am just gonna sit tight till a tidy one comes along I think. Keep ya eyes pealed for me lol

Thanks for help so far

Are you solely looking for a connect...... If not look at, dare I say it the caddy. To me it's a far better van and cheaper to run.

Here's a couple

This one - ebay item number https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271159525155 is 15min drive from me.
& is at CR Motors Ltd in Kings Lynn Norfolk. (There's a train station nearby)

Or this T220 LWB at £1289 with service history - ebay item no https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181139126396

Pesonally I wouldn't go for something like this one, especially when it clearly is Not As Described

I really depends on how far you wish to travel to foind the right one
