remote audio stalk

Postby connectwill » Wed May 15, 2013 9:01 pm

I am thinking of adding a remote audio stalk to my 54 reg 220l. I have removed the column shrouds and cannot find anything which would suggest a connector. I have however found four connectors taped up at the bottom of the steering column against the main loom. 2 of them are black plastic connectors with various different wires going into them 2 are like a square with 4 square holes in and the other is similar but with 6 holes. The third connector is grey with a green a red a yellow and a black wire going into it. I wondered if anyone could tell me what these might be and if any of them could possibly be the connector for the audio remote.
I also checked at the stereo and the centre block in the connector has only 2 wires going into it and I wondered if these might be the two for the remote.
I am only asking this because I cannot find a wiring diagram for the vehicle despite having a haynes manual. It does not show the stereo system.
I look forward to your replies.

Hi guys and thanks for the responses.
I ordered a stalk from ebay and received it Yesterday (Friday).
Went out to the van tonight (Saturday), stripped off the column cowls, looked at the wires to the indicators and lo and behold, taped up with them was the wiring and socket for the remote.
Got out my dremmel tool and cut the cowl, using the marks on the inside of the cowl for reference, tried it in place to make sure of the clearances then screwed it in place making sure that the wire and connector were through the new hole.
I then plugged the connector into the socket on the stalk and pushed the stalk into its location until it clicked.
Turned on van, turned on radio and to my amazement, volume control and selection control at the steering wheel.
To say i am happy is quite an understatement.
Thanks again for the help.
