Code B1915 Airbag Bypass

Postby Aboveus » Fri May 17, 2013 4:35 pm

I need some advice here regarding an airbag bypass issue

Trying to bypass replacing the airbag so fitted a 2.2 Ohm resistor so hooked up the diagnostic tool and it was showing “Acceleration Threshold Exceeded” and nothing else so was thinking ok its only the crash data that needs cleared, so got someone to clear the module and now its showing code B1915 which is saying “Airbag Drivers Circuit Failure”

So at this point i was thinking this might be the clock spring at fault, so tried to bypass this by connecting a resistor to the two wires before it comes into the back of the clock spring but no luck, its showing the same code.

Any advice or a way around this? I was thinking it could be something wrong with the wiring from the module coming to the back of the clock spring.

Also airbag light is flashing three times then stays on.

Connects from 2003-2009 have a 2 stage airbag :!:

There are 4 wires for these airbags

The original airbag was a one stage airbag that was fitted, the deployed airbag that was removed was same as mk7 fiesta airbag.

I see 4 wires going to back of the clock spring, two for airbag and the other two are for the horn? I have since also tested a two stage airbag module and airbag and it’s showing the same code and even trying to bypass the clock spring using a resistor is not working which should do rly

Anyone here know of anything else that might show the B1915 “Airbag Drivers Circuit Failure” :?:

It’s a 2006 and no side airbags, not sure regarding the crash sensor location.

Is the ford badge on bonnet or front grille ?

if no side airbags then they will no crash sensors (located below seat belt assembly on B post)

The badge is on the bonnet so it’s before the facelift. I have checked all the fuses and everything else on the van looks ok so not really sure what the problem could be.

The original should have been a 2 stage airbag as shown below

Wiring for airbag at squib/clockspring
GN/RD & BK/OG - Stage 1
GN/BK & BK/GN - stage 2
BK/WH - GND

Here is the wiring diagram.

Was the wiring that was at fault so had to replace this, also bought and fitted a single stage airbag, it’s not showing any DTC codes for airbag and light has gone out so hope that’s it fixed since it’s been a headache to do.

Anyway thanks for the help as that pointed me in the right direction more or less :D
