Postby mohsin.ahmed.9887 » Wed Feb 19, 2014 2:24 pm

Hi guys,

Not sure we're exactly it is leaking from!!! Driving me mad. The van drives perfectly well check oil and water look fine to me.

Any help please I'm new to the forum?

Welcome to the forum.

So you're not losing coolant while driving? That's strange as it's under pressure then. :?

How much coolant are you losing and over what time frame?

Thank you

No coolent being lost whilst driving. When I leave it parked over night I loose about 500ml of coolent.

Every morning just behind the brake vac pump area is wet

I have had a look under the engine I can't spot the leak.

Engine temperature is fine no mixture in coolent oil is normal. Heaters warm up fine.

Its driving me nuts!

Thanks Mohsin

Check engine temp sensor, that is located in side of cylinder head next to vac pump mounting point.

If temp sensor has been replaced & not screwed in properly or cross threaded, it will leak. cylinder head will be wet in that area.

If it's ok, then I would look at thermostat housing. Which is just to the left of vac pump. possibly a leaking gasket ?

Not sure if I'm in the right area, but mine was loosing coolant from the back of the engine and it turned out to be a core plug. Rad weld worked for a bit then used some chemical metal as it would of been a pain to replace it. Been fine since

Pressure test on the van today. Seems there's a leak coming from thermostat housing! Took it apart no crack on housing. Went euro car parts and Andrew page. They have different parts coming up under reg and chassis number. May have to go dealers....

Can't see water pump externally on drive aux belt! Aux belt only driving alternator. Water pipe going behind timing cover from front of block. Is the water pump driven by cambelt?? It's a 2005-55 reg..

Thank you

On my 2004 tdci, it's almost smack in the middle of the engine on the drivers side under the aux bet cover and from what I remember it is driven by the aux belt.

The same leakage have in my van, is from thermostat housing and leaking only when the engine is cold, no cracks on thermostat's housing

Found the leak[SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH AND SMILING EYES] it's coming form the water housing. the seal had a split. Housing was fine. Need to replace the seal. Done a temp fix by putting gasket sealer as dealers were closed today.

Presure test tool is great in situations like this as it would only leak over night.
