What to and to the interior to spruce it up.

Postby adammcc » Sat Jun 14, 2014 9:46 pm

Hello chaps. What parts of the Ford range can I add to the interior off my connect?
It's quite a bland place to be. Any help and advice would be great. Cheers

Theres not much as a straight swop but changing the steering wheel to a Fiesta m6/7 will fit.I'm changing my Fiesta wheel to a four spoke Mondeo once I've figured out the wiring. You can also fit Mondeo door handles, air vents also off a Mondeo (ones with chrome bit), gear Focus/Fusion knob is also straight fit. In addition to these I've fitted a DD DAB radio (had to change the dash to a mk2), changed passenger seat to full size and reupholstered in leather with diamond white stitching, added an RS centre console, replaced the handbrake and gear lever boots to black leather with white stitching to match the seats.

You can fit Mondeo chrome interior door handles.

Every little helps! These make a surprising amount of difference to the interior.

Might sound a little chavvy I dont know  but ive just replaced my interior lights in the front and back with led festoon lights its a straight swap and they are much brighter, the ones I have bought are blue and they look ace at night p.s if you were to do this your festoons would have to be 41mm, probs get away with 42mm though, installing takes about 2 mins and the difference is massive, can get allsorts of different colours best place is ebay

If your van is a mk1 then not a straight swop but not difficult either. Once removed you'll need to match up the mk2 surround and then cut out the bits were needed. Dont cut any of the fittings for the screws as not necessary and would make fitting harder. Biggest problem will be finding a surround from a mk2

Fiesta or Fusion surrounds wont fit as I think they are a different shape and size.

You mean like this mk2 (2006-2009) centre console

A few people on here have fitted mk2 centre console to mk1 connects (2003-2006)
dash has ben trimmed about thought. Do a search on here, fairly certain these a how 2 thread somewhere on here.

Or just change the complete dash Like I did on my 1st connect project (from 2006 onwards dash colour changed from grey to dark pewter

Its easy to do. Firstly remove the existing surround and then hold up the replacement. With a dremel cut out the areas required to fit the replacement surround but careful not to remove the four screw mountings.
