110 connect 59 plate new shape. 6 speed box?

Anyone know any reason why I couldn't do this? I'm assuming something with the same basic engine in the Ford range that uses a 6-speed as standard would be a good starting point to look at for a swap?

Mondeo mk4 1.8 TDCI 6 sp gearbox (7G9R-7002-ZF)

This gearbox will bolt onto the connects engine, & driveshafts will fit.

But it's not a straight swap. :!:

Both rear lower & top gearbox mount do not fit connects & Connect mounts don't fit 6sp gearbox. - So you will have to fabricated 2 new mounts.
Also longer gearshift cables are required along with gearshift assembly - These too require to be modified to fit connects.

You could always swap for a focus 5speed box. The gears are longer on the focus.

Yes fit a Focus mk1 gearbox, this one 2S4R-7002-PA ratio is 3.41 & is Ideal :wink:

What would that do to it in performance terms, quicker through the gears, same top end?

A tad slower on acceleration I think, but longer top end and you can hold your gears longer I think. Better for top speed and economy basically.
