few basic questions about my van

Postby Custard Kid » Mon Sep 15, 2014 9:38 pm

Hi all just purchased my connect van over the weekend and love it but i have few questions about it so i can proceed to purchasing mods
its 57 plate van what MK is it?
does the van have the loom in place to add front fogs? ( i would assume i would have to change light switch)
how can i find out what type of engine is it?
Servicing.... what to buy and what not to buy brand wise or anything else. will be doing a complete overhaul for peace of mind.
and finally what type of key comes with the van? i have plain key with a 3rd party fob. anyway i could get a new ford remote fob?

many thanks for you all your help

Wiring should already be there for front fog lights.

Engine is a TDCI with Siemens fuel system

Engine codes are as follows

75ps R2PA
90ps R3PA
110ps RWPA

Engine code is stamped on cylinder head & can also be found on Vin label attached to N/S B pillar.
Key wise - standard plain Ford key with W1 Transponder & a separate 3 button remote fob.
You can use a 3 button remote key but must have a W1 transponder - see post here for more info  viewtopic.php?f=31&t=142157

Servicing, use genuine Ford diesel filter & fully synthetic 5W/30 engine oil - available here :arrow:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/New-Genuine-F ... 5404f3b022

http://Www.etis.ford.com for detailed info on your van.

Not sure what if you would have the loom for front fogs until you look underneath the van.

Being a 57plate it's most likely a mk1 facelift. The original mk 1 had "square boobs" on the front bumper, the facelift has a smooth front bumper.

Servicing wise, stick with fords (if you're rich) or go with Delphi or bosch filters. I've always used them and never had a problem.

My van came with one key (with glass transponder chip in a blue compartment) and a seperate fob (which can be programmed to any ford). On the forum you will find details about changing to a flip style key and focus style key. It depends if you're existing key has a glass chip or a carbon chip (later models had a carbon one). But someone will be along soon to help.

Hope this helps.

not worried about having a flip key but its a blue chip basic key, it only came with one key and remote so iam going to source new remotes and get new blades cut and then take it to me friend and deprogram all keys and pair the current 3 i will have on the van.

Superb maybe you could offer some insight to this little snag i have :)

the interior light stays on when set to "door" the only way to keep it off it by leaving it off.

It should switch off when you lock the door or when the timer has timed out

Door switches are on the A puller below the bottom hinge. Looks like a black nipple thing.

That's odd. There is a blanking grommet at the bottom of the first picture. Sort of oval shape. That's where my switch is on my 2004 tdci.

Door switches are in the door latches, find someone with Ford diag equipment and they can run a test on the switches \ latches
