On that note, what is the rules on warranty and remapping these vans? Is it something I would need to run by my ford dealer?

Give it time & allow your engine to run in - Ford states run in period of 2000 miles for New Diesel Connects :!:

Yes gearbox ratios are completely different to 1.8 TDCI Connects, plus you have 6 extra gear - 6 Speed gearbox

You already have the 1.6 Duratorq 115ps -max 270 torque (285 with transient overboost) Euro 5 engine (DV6) with vDPF (Vaporiser Diesel Particulate Filter)
2007 Ford Mondeo mk4 1.8 TDCI -RETROFIT IN PROGRESS
2009 Jaguar X-Type 2.0D
2010 Vauxhall Insignia- RETROFIT IN PROGRESS

It may get better with mileage, run it for 5,000 miles and l bet it improves. Diesel engines take time to run in before they deliver their best.
