2006 230L cut out while driving

Postby 101geo » Fri Oct 24, 2014 12:50 pm

And now it wont start. The RAC fellas diagnostics said "Low fuel pressure" Now I cant get my obd tester to read any codes.
Any ideas of what to check and in which order? Sorry for my ignorance here but I dont normally work with diesels.
Thanks in advance

Will it restart immediately?

I'd start by looking at fuel pump & injectors, maybe air in the system?

I had the same thing on my 06 tdci although my glow plug light flashed and it went into limp mode turned out to be fuel pump had disintegrated and ruined the injectors, hopefully won't be the case with yours but when it happened to me I searched the web and it seems quiet common on the delphi equipped connects .

I managed to get the thing to run spraying easystart into the intake so then I tried putting a diode across each injector while cranking and there was no signal getting to the injectors, what would stop the signal from the ecu?

Nice easy £20 fix if the sensor works

Changed the cam sensor, no joy. A mate had a new crank sensor ready to fit into another connect so I "borrowed" that and still no joy.

Not looking so good then! Check the pump for swarf, if you find any then pumps gone and will probably have knackered the injectors too :-(

I'll try that tomorrow. Would a buggered pump stop the injector signal/pulse from the ECU?

What about the sensor on the side of the spider thing (fuel rail) on the front of the engine?

How would I test that? The loom goes from there to the 2 other sensors, if they are sensors, on the pump. What are they for?

I think it's a fuel rail pressure sensor. Fords say it's not replaceable and you have to buy the whole spider at £240 but that's crap as my mate replaced one (although it was the camshaft sensor).
