Changed my alternator loom, now the cluster lights are on all the time. pulled fuse 20 i think it was, the one for the dash lights, now the dash lights behave normailly. The loom was a genuine ford one too. Any ideas?? Very odd. Now im trying to get the thing going after changing the diesel filter.

Did you fill the new filter with fresh diesel?

I'd take it off again and fill it with fresh diesel until it's brimmed. Refit and try again. Don't crank for too long though. Give it a minute or two and try again.

second hand cd player (600cd) arrived today, two minutes slipped it in, a much nicer looking thing than the aftermarket hash of a thing that came in her :o)

Usually a fault with the cluster causes this. See my reply to a similar post.

That's not so good, strange that it happened straight after changing the loom, it was ok before, think I'll put the old loom on again just to see what happens. Thanks for the reply :o)

It's alive... got it bled, and checked the loom, it's fine as it ought to be... lights still on though, must be a coincidence that it happened straight after the loom was changed. painting the rims now. Seems I need the radiator support panel too.

There is a cd stuck in the cd player. It was theere when i got it... It seems to be of very questionable taste as well... e-mailed the seller and we will wait to see what happens. Got two of the wheels painted up today, one of the rims reacted badly. Too much moisture in the air or the airline. Fisheyes. On the plus side they really do not look at all bad, sometimes repainted steelies dont look right, too light or too dark. Massey Ferguson silver looks a treat along with black wheel nut. Its getting there. I think im going to take the cluster out and see where the lights for the clocks are getting a perminant live from. I may look for a wiring diagram for it first.

i did that, even after it was out overnight the lights come on as soon as its put back in.

the seller of the cd player wants me to look and see if there is a reset button on the cd player to see if it will help get the cd out. i'll try that, doubt if it will make any difference though. i can hear it trying to eject the cd. ah well.
