HELP no fuel going to filter

Postby FixOnRoadDaily » Wed Nov 26, 2014 9:19 pm

loss of power (only 1200rpm) for aprox 1 mile, engine cut out.
now wont start... fuel light only just came on.
no fuel going to fuel filter,
my fuel tank overflow pipe has fell off about 3 months ago ,so i think dirt has got into the tank and blocked the fuel pipe.
going to take tank off, drain and clean and re install tomoz.

is that a good idea ???

question 1, should fuel be going to filter when cranking engine
question 2, is there a pump in the fuel tank ?

anyone got any advice for me

thanks in advance.

ford transit connect 220 / 1800cc, never had any problems until now

No pump, fuel should be pumped through and stay at the filter head, if it drops back then you probably have a leak :-(
You should fix the tank as it should be, and check the filter head and pipework for leaks, make sure the filter is sealed correctly.
Not sure if the tank has a1 way valve anywhere but if you sort it out correctly then you should be good upto the filter head :-)

there is a big hole where the overflow pipe broke off

im hoping its just dirt blocking the fuel pipe from tank.

nothing came to injectors when i tried to bleed either.
