Connect died,wont start.

Evening all,we have an 09 transit connect tdci that was idling nicely this morning before cutting out and failing to restart.
Firstly we've changed the fuel filter,used a separate fuel tank source ruling out a blockage at the tank,filled it with fuel using a priming bulb before cranking still no joy.
Scanned it using a snap on solus,the only codes that showed up was p0087(low fuel pressure) and p0380 (glowplug malfunction).Stuck a new set of glowplugs in as three showed up to be duds by checking via a resistance test,thats cleared the glow plug code but still no start.Starting to suspect the high pressure fuel pump or a duff injector as the pressure showing up on the scanner is ridiculously low (680kpa) .

Not yet G-man,Ill rig up something tmoro and cut the old fuel filter open to check for any dreaded metal filings.

being 09 it will have siemens fuel system on, very rare on these to have pump fail and find metal filings in the filter, most with the pump chewed up were the delphi systems

80,000 paul,it is the siemens fuel system that's installed.Never had time to get back to look at it today,busy busy busy!

Thought id post an update on the outcome of said problem.The high pressure pump had failed internally and also trashed the injectors.Now back up and running with a new timing chain and belt fitted for good measure.

Thanks for the update, as said never seen up to now siemens pump chew its self up, they changed from delphi cause of this problem looks like siemens is no better
