Ford Connect Clutch/Revving issues

Postby Jimsky » Wed May 27, 2015 6:10 pm

Hi Everyone and Thank you in advance for and Help given

I have a strange fault with my work Van Ford Connect Trend 2010 Model....
The van was revving excessively then settling back down while accelerating, I had my local garage put in new clutch last weekend and now the issue is slightly worse? We are possible looking at replacing the Master clutch cylinder this weekend to see if it's that??
It found no fault codes , but i must also add it has a Limiter fitted to 70mph if that would make any difference?

Cheers Jim

When does this occur? Does it happen while driving? If so does the speed change or is it just revving and the speed stays constant?

Hi, Thanks for your reply

She sits idle perfect, its when you accelerate in any gear that she over Rev's dramatically before picking up speed and the revs drop back down!

It just drives like the clutch is half pressed in for a while, but if you drive gently say up to 40mph changing through the gears quickly its kind of okish it when you open throttle up thats when it all goes pair shaped?
Have just noticed today a split in the air intake hose??

I assume the garage didn't contaminate the new friction plate with oil or any sort of lubricant?

To be honest its the same fault as before new clutch but slightly worse now so in truth i wouldnt know?? he's fitting Master clutch cylinder at weekend to see if its that??
But i think he is just trying to narrow things down. he doesnt believe its the clutch or gear box??

It is strange how you've had a new clutch and it's still the same.

Update, New master and slave cylinder, fuel filter and obviously the clutch!!! Still doing it?? The clutch was a solid flywheel which wasn't replaced!!! Could it be that?? She has done 180,000 mile :O

Any ideas guys :(
Today when driving 1st and 2nd gear fine as normal...3rd,4th 5th etc when you give her a good press on the throttle the Revs shoot right up even when in 5th the display even asks me to change gear up!!! There aint no more gears lol
Also what is limp mode?? I can slowly get her to 40mph without her revving but over that booommm?

So after everything has been replaced (including slave cylinder inside the box I assume?) it's still happening?

I reckon the friction plate is contaminatedz

Hi, No it hasn't been re-mapped that was the next port of call as i wanted the limiter removed from the van as well!!
We put new Cylinder clutch pipe in today as well no difference!!!
the Mechanic is going to replace the clutch under warranty to defo rule it out??

Would the ECU cause it then??

If the friction plate uses the face of the flywheel to bite on which has 180,000 on it and wasn't replaced, that's where I'd be looking. Why didn't you replace that whilst you were there? I am not familiar with these motors, but I thought it was just standard practice to replace it all as a set. That's what I would have done anyway especially as it has a heavy mileage on it.
