Hi all,

He didnt replace the Solid plate as he said there was no signs of wear/damage to it?? He is pretty adamant as of this morning that he doesnt think it is that ( even even showed me a Knackered one), but is willing to replace under warranty?? but he cant do for week or so
as of everything else new Slave, New Master, New Pipe to and from!!!

I ask, would re-mapping have any benefits?? also removing the limiter set on the van at 70mph

I did ask Transitparts (ebay) about the solid plate and he said you only replace if damage had been caused by the starter motor :?

Many Thanks Jim

Phil do you mean yours needed the solid plate?? and or the re-map made it worse

The cylinder was Luk but was the rest of the clutch. Personally I've only used and will only use Luk or Sachs (Valeo) clutch parts. For what it costs in price it is better economy to spend that little extra than to have to pay to get it replaced (that's if the garage you use want to be d!cks about it).

Jimsky, it boils down to a simple equation. Assuming the parts have been installed correctly. They are either not up to the job, i.e. cheap pattern shite, or there is something still worn and it is not creating the pressure needed to stop the friction plate slipping.

Got to try and book remap to remove limiter and hope that fixes it??

I'd wager removing the limiter with a re-map will make your clutch slip more.

Just to clarify, what is everyone saying is decent quality clutches for the Connect? Does anyone know who manufactures the factory fitted clutches that Ford use, is it those LUK ones?

Ford use Valeo I think. That's what was on the old clutch that came out when it was knackered.

They are Valeo's clutches, here are a few pics from different years. All have Ford original stamps as well.

I guess Luk clutches are actually Valeo clutches, but I'm not 100% sure.
