Over heating ford transit connect

Postby Tommaddison » Tue Jun 02, 2015 7:29 am

Just wondering if any one could help me! I've got a ford transit connect 1.8 tDci that keeps over heating! I had a new water pump and thermostat fitted about 6 months ago which I thought had solved the problem. About 2 weeks ago the same Thing happend again, i took back to the mechanic and he diagnosed it as a head gasket! I left it with him to replace as needed the van on the road! Cost me £650 for the work to be done, I picked the van up, and I still have the same problem with over heating after spending all this money! If anyone could help I would appriciate it, thanks

I took it back to the mechanic and he flushed the system out with some fluid and says there are no blocks? He's going along the lines of crack in the block? I'm starting to think the head wasn't pressure tested??

Could be the restrictors in the small coolant pipes that come from the top of the header tank. They can get blocked up and restrict flow.

Thanks for the help! Hopefully can get to the bottom of it with the feedback! As not sure where to start now the mechanic has illuminated all the obvious things it could be, thanks

Did your mechanic do a compression test? That would have told you about the state of the head gasket within 15 minutes. Are you actually losing water?

Yes the fans working! And Yes the mechanic said its been pressure tested! Not loosing any water until it's hot and the water come out the top of the water tank! There's always lots of pressure, with the cap on or off! Not sure what to do for the best!

hi all am new here.. I have exactly the same issue as this I amat the point now that mechanic seems to think its the block but the head wasn't pressure tested do the heads crack on connects (2010) as the firm who skimmed the head said it becomes apparent when you skim them and I would be wasting my money by having it tested??
ihad been driving it for a while and doing the dreaded thing TOPPING UP WITH COLD WATER!! how ever after the head gasket was done it seemed the over heating was fixed ( for 2 days)!!! help I'm stuck!
