Gearbox replacement

Postby grucero » Tue Jun 02, 2015 11:08 am

Hi,
Gearbox in my TC 56 playe needs replacing.
Will any gearbox from connect fit as long as its 5gear manual.
Or should i look out for specific one.
In smc parts department they said that gearbox have 7002cc number....
With second hand ones its still 7002 but letters are different, like bh,be etc.
Will they fit my van?

Hi,
Transit Connect 2008, Id like to change my 5 speed gb to 6 speed,
does anyone know if that is possible with this model?
When doing 60mh I am revving around 3rpm, I believe a change would
bring more ease and better economy. New connects have a 6 speed gearbox fitted...

Best wishes

Welcome to the forum :D

Fit a Focus mk1 gearbox. it's a simple swap.

NOTE 6 speed gearbox from Connects 2013 to present won't fit earlier Connects. They have a completely different engines & mountings

That's weird. My original gearbox had the engine running at 2500 rpm / 100 kph, now 2000 rpm or 2050.

I think.

When you say your original gearbox, that's g\box that van was fitted with at the factory ? if so its got 4.06 F.D ratio

If you've replaced the g\box with a Focus box they have 3.41 F.D ratio

Mine does the same now with the focus box, 60 mph (100kph) = 2024 rpm

An update: getting a steady 5.8L/100 km fuel economy at every fillup (for those who speak metric) with the Focus gearbox. Original Connect box got steady 6.5, the best ever was 5.9
