gearbox rattle

hey up, ive just bought a 55plate connect with 96k on the clock, the tddi engine, seems to have a bit of a rattle coming from the gearbox on tick over - not always, sometimes louder than other times, bit of an odd one really, just wondered if this is common or should I break out in a sweat of fear due to the wife wanting to kill me if it needs another box

Are you sure its the gear box and not something like the exhaust?

100% the gear box/clutch. you press the clutch and it stops.
