Postby painter4 » Thu Jul 02, 2015 7:28 pm

Hi done a search but not much came up regarding a cure to the engine flutter / irregular tick over sound like its hunting ... starts fine drives fine .. had new fuel filter only use shell diesel

its just very annoying more than anything .. took to ford for diag they said cant do till i remove egr plate ( dont like doing this as it helps keep the oil clean ).... but they said they will do when removed and also
an ecu update ? not sure if i should have that done or not has anyone had the update mine is 1.8 tdci 05 90ps

well not much help on this then ??
told to remove egr plate so ford can do update on ecu ... then told if they do update it will fix my problem but may put van in limp mode.. and if it does i will need a new egr valve >> does this sound right ?? surely they would just replace with the same egr valve that they are taking out ... and if mine is working fine seems ludicrous

what happens if i got vantuner to do a re map would that update my ecu

The whole new egr valve thing is them trying to get money out of you because they know you've blocked it off. It could well be egr related. Did it start when you put the plate in? Has your plate got a hole?

no hole in plate ... always ran fine with it in .... no lights on dash ( plate taken out just for now )

just had engine rebuild (not ford but a specialist) and they thought after no fault codes came up on their own diag that it might just need re setting of the ecu ford say cant be done ... needs ecu update

does the connect have a pressure relief valve ? same as mk 7 transit tdci have , as some research points to this as a cure to the same fault on them

maybe the 60 ford want i should put towards a remap not sure though :? would it also update the ecu :?:

It wouldn't update the exu, just changes fuelling and timing. The ford update does everything. You could get a remap after that for more power if you wanted.

Hello,

sorry for the hijack but I'm in dire straights with the same question about them having the same problem with a pressure release valve as the mk 7 I keep reading about the mark seven but nothing on the connect.

I've just recently bought a 2003 T Connect hence the name it's revving up and down when in the reserve or just above fuel wise. It is not driveable when like this and starts when there's a little more in the tank barely noticeable as the fuel comes down it becomes worse and then becomes undriveable. If there's a quart or more on the fuel gauge it doesn't miss a beat barring like three point turns and parking but I've read somewhere else that's some other minor hiccup that they seem to have and does not bother me.

Replys to this post on about this with the mk 1 transit connect tdci could seriously help me out. The 220 is what I have I think 89 bhp but not 100 procent can get more info if it will help getting answers to this post. Checked other basics plugging out certain sensors for difference in behaviour checking for disconnected and or cracked pipes will more than likely drop the tank next if I get no feedback.
