Van security

Postby PaudieG60 » Fri Sep 11, 2015 7:08 am

Two work vans have been hit in the last 3 weeks, one twice in two days.

One had a small hole drilled in it and the other had the handle smashed off.

Is there cover plates on the market for a 2004 transit connect that I can get to prevent this??

What other options do I have??

I did a quick search there and replacement barrels and dead locks were mentioned but I've not come across a topic that covers all the options.

Any help greatly appreciated as I want to get my van sorted asap

Do you have remote central locking? if so you could make it keyless.

I do have remote central locking.

If I went keyless and the battery went dead, how would I get access to the van.

Are the locks a week point in these vans?

Leave the bonnet lock intact?

Ah man, I forgot the bonnet opens from the outside, not the inside!!

I'll look into blanking the locks, thanks for the advice!

I fitted external bar locks on my van, to be honest I think if a thief wants to get in they will it's just about making it as difficult as possible.

A carpenter I know has a Renault traffic and fitted the locks that replace the whole handle. I think they were slam locks. The thriving acum still tried to get in to it and mullered the back and side doors by bending doors to get access to the catches inside. The only reason he didn't lose any tools is because they got spotted and run off.
