P141A

Postby Custard Kid » Mon Feb 01, 2016 9:43 pm

i have a fault code P141A coming up we have checked the loom at the common rubbing place as ford suggests its a wiring issue but no damage intact the technician said it was in fantastic condition with clips in proper places. i know he checked it as i was with him when he working on the van.
he also checked the plug for the EGR valve and contacts was closed and cleaned with contact cleaner.

Any suggestions on what to do next would be greatful

If its the sensor where the little yellow arrow is then yes it can be replaced but that is not the Exhaust Gas Recirculation Sensor, thats the throttle valve position sensor and has nothing to do with the fault code you are getting

The large unit on the top of the manifold is the EGR motor and sensor in one unit and only comes complete with manifold
Please don't send me PM's, i can't access them, when I try I get this:

Yes it's a position sensor forthrottle control valve (also know as anti shudder valve) & forms part of EGR systems on Euro 4 & Euro 5 engines.

Comfirmed on Ford wiring diagrams

egr.jpg

Commons DTC's associated with it are:-

P0487 EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION THROTTLE CONTROL CIRCUIT OPEN
P0488 EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION THROTTLE CONTROL CIRCUIT RANGE / PERFORMANCE
P141A EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION SENSOR "A" CIRCUIT INTERMITTENT/ERRATIC

It is also know when faulty for Connects to be hesitant/stuttering on acceleration.

It's is worth checking rather then dismissing it

ok would you have the part number for throttle valve position sensor?

just to add P141A on IDS noted it put mil light on and there was another fault of P0488 but no mil light, this was discovered on another round of diagnostics this evening to gather a more accurate diagnosis
