Hesitating/sluggish connect

Postby trixyben » Sat Feb 20, 2016 10:38 pm

My 54 plate tddi connect is fairly sluggish, it just seem as if when you put your foot down for it to go theres something holding back the power

My mate has the exact same van, its a year older, 20k more miles and when we went side by side he gradually gets away and leaves me for dust!

Ive changed the air box on mine, complete service done, tyres are inflated right, changed the air flow meter and still no difference, my mates van has no mods at all btw

I unplugged the egr and i dont really know if it made much of a difference tbh, next i was going to look and see maybe the map sensor if i can find it lol

I have a mk1 focus with same engine as van for donor parts to try

Anyone any suggestions?

had the fault codes read?......could be anything from faulty pump/injectors,seized turbo actuator rod, blocked cat or a dirty IAT sensor

Dont have any codes at all, if it was the pump or injectors wouldnt they throw up a code?

Can i check turbo actuator im not familair with it

Ive read on vans you can gut out the cat as its not tested is this right? I can gut it therefore should add couple more hp at least

The IAT sensor im also unfamiliar with

Thanks for your feedback

Does it feel like theres lack of power until you get through the gears then suddenly pick up? Check the egr ;-) Blanking it sometimes helps and even do a egr delete. If this doesnt work you may need to repair/replace it.

No im not getting any power surges at all tbh, it just seems gutless and the fuel consumption isnt great either im getting close to 400miles per tank

My mates van which is exactly the same has a noticable amount of more power and hes getting close to 600 miles per tank

Ive checked all the pipes and theres no splits, i tried to put in a egr blanking plate but the bolts are never for moving, i sprayed cleaner into the egr to try clean it abit, put in a redex fuel injector cleaner and all this makes no bit of difference

Have you changed fuel filter? Try doing an injector leak off test to make sure all are working correctly, have you checked the turbo for movement on the shaft?. N
