Ford connect 1.8 rd co 2011 rear crankshaft seal

Hi I'm going to be changing the rear crankshaft seal and clutch, Is it best to drop the subframe or is it easier just to rotate the gearbox past the subframe?, I do have an engine crane to support the engine, also can I leave the driveshafts partly in or do I need to remove them completely?

Don't need to remove subframe. Remove both drive shafts & gearbox will drop out underneath past subframe :wink:

I have got a 3 piece clutch kit going in aswell, A freind of mine who does transits day in day out said the seal must stand for at least 4 hrs without the engine been turned to allow it to seat correctly for anyone who is doing one. The seal manufacturer is Payne.


I also was speaking to the guy i know in autoparts who was having problems with Luk clutchs - Problems with them slipping then the manufacturer wont honour the warranty,

In the end i went for a National Clutch
