K-Frame refitting.

Postby spooky » Sat May 14, 2016 9:15 am

OK, one recon rack and £120 lighter, how critical are the ball bearing special washers and sub frame alignment tools ? Can't see it's gonna be able to move much from it's original position when refitting, also, getting the bottom ball joints into the wishbones looks like a right pig, any tips there apart from releasing the three top strut mounting bolts a bit ?

Who thought of this cockamaney way of fitting the steering rack, what a total mess about, this is the sort of thing the French dream up on their vehicles ? Still, there's only the radiator and fuel tank left on the van that's original, everything else has been replaced ......... Uh oh, maybe I shouldn't have said that :(

Sorted ! Didn't look so bad when it was all cleaned off .. N/S bottom ball joint wasn't having any of it so I took the long bolt out of the wishbone which allowed the arm to move about 30 mm, enough for the ball joint pin to comfortably drop in, fitted the nut and then put some weight behind it and pushed strut and wishbone back into position, no big shakes !

TIP: Don't forget to fit the heat shield to the new rack before jacking it up into position
